STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Visiting Binghamton women's tennis earned its first win of the season with a gritty 4-3 victory over Wagner Friday afternoon at the CSI Tennis Courts.

Freshman Loren Cuomo was a double winner and the tandem of senior Lara Kaplan and sophomore Caterina Casadei provided the key win in doubles as BU captured the opening point before the two teams split the six singles matches. 

The Bearcats clinched the team win with their fourth point - when junior Abby Ackroyd finished off her 6-0, 6-0 triumph at fifth singles. Wagner won the last two singles matches to tighten the final score.

Cuomo paired with sophomore Bridget Martin for a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles. After Wagner won at the top spot, the team of Kaplan and Casadei earned a 6-4 win to seal the doubles point and stake BU to a 1-0 lead. Cuomo then was first off the courts at No. 3 singles with a commanding 6-0, 6-2 win. Sophomore No. 1 Natalia Aruj improved to 17-8 overall with her 6-4, 6-2 victory. 

The Bearcats continue their road trip with a Saturday match at Temple beginning at 10 a.m.
