BUFFALO, N.Y. - Host Canisius (7-11) scored 10 runs in the seventh inning to blow past visiting Binghamton baseball (11-9) 22-7 Tuesday afternoon at Demske Sports Complex. It was a matchup of reigning NCAA tournament teams and the Golden Griffins scored runs in seven of eight innings to pull away early.
A total of 21 BU players got time in the non-conference game before the first-place Bearcats return home to continue their quest for another America East title.
Canisius scored two runs in the first inning and six in the second to take a commanding lead. Binghamton didn't heat up offensively until the later innings after trailed 12-1. But after BU plated three runs in the top of the seventh, the hosts topped that with 10 runs in the bottom of the frame. The Bearcats scored three runs in the eighth to finish out the scoring.

Kevin Gsell went 3-for-4 with three RBI and junior left fielder
Christian Perez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run - his first collegiate blast. Perez made a great running catch in the bottom of the seventh and then came to bat with a runner on second in the eighth. He belted a long ball over the wall in right field.
Binghamton, winners of seven of its last nine, returns home to host Bryant in a three-game set this weekend.
