NORFOLK, Va. – Binghamton (9-5) continued its winning ways on Sunday at the Hampton/Norfolk State Tournament with another pair of victories. The Bearcats defeated Norfolk State (7-7) 10-2 in five innings and held off Delaware (6-10) 6-5 to complete their 4-0 weekend.
With the victories, the Bearcats extend their current winning streak to six games. It marks their longest winning streak since they took eight straight games from March 29-April 12, 2016.

Alli Richmond were the Bearcats' top sluggers on Sunday. Santos drove in four runs while Richmond homered and drove in three runs.

Chloe Morgan each went 2-for-3 (.667). Walter also drew three walks while Morgan was issued a pair of walks. Sophomore outfielder
Alayna Harbaugh, meanwhile, went 4-for-8 (.500), scored three times and also drew three walks.
In the opener against Norfolk State, the Bearcats took advantage of four errors and drew 11 walks. The 11 walks represent the second most in program history, trailing only the 12 walks drawn against UMBC on April 6, 2013.
Three of the Spartan errors occurred in the top of the first inning as the Bearcats took a quick 4-0 lead. Santos had the only RBI of that frame on a bunt single.
Binghamton tacked on a run in each of the next three innings before plating three runs in the fifth inning. Santos drove in the first run of that frame on a sacrifice bunt and Richmond completed the scoring with a two-run home run. The home run for Richmond was her team-best second of the year.
After allowing two Spartan runs in the bottom of the first inning, freshman pitcher
Kendal Leitner pitched three scoreless innings to raise her record to 2-0. Walter tossed a scoreless fifth inning to lock up the win via the eight-run rule.
Leitner is now 2-0 while Cam Andersen was tagged with the loss, dropping her record to 2-2.
Against Delaware, Santos stroked an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning, tying the game at 1-1. She then capped off a three-run bottom of the second inning with a sacrifice fly, padding the Bearcats' lead to 4-1.
The Blue Hens came roaring back with four runs in the top of the third inning to take a 5-4 lead. In the bottom of the same inning however, graduate student designated player
Sophia Pappas tied the game on an infield single.
Richmond put the Bearcats ahead to stay with an RBI single in the fourth inning.
On the mound, Pappas went the first 2.1 innings against the Blue Hens before Walter tossed another 3.2 scoreless innings. Freshman pitcher
Brianna Roberts got the save with a scoreless seventh inning.
Walter is now 2-0 while Kendall Shank fell to 1-1. The save for Roberts was her first of the year.
Walter concluded an impressive weekend both at the plate and on the mound. She led Binghamton in batting (.625), on-base percentage (.750) and slugging percentage (.625) and scored five times. On the mound, Walter pitched five scoreless innings and collected the aforementioned win over Delaware.
Morgan was 4-for-8 (.500) and drove in three runs while Harbaugh was 6-for-13 (.462) and scored five times.
As a team, Binghamton hit .376 during the weekend.
Binghamton travels to George Mason for a four-game series next Saturday and Sunday.
