PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Binghamton wrestling wrapped up Day 2 of the EIWA Championships at The Palestra. Binghamton finished 11th in the team standings. The Bearcats are sending three wrestlers to the NCAA Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Cory Day reached the semifinals for the first time in his career on Saturday. Brevin Cassella and Jacob Nolan each punched their tickets to Tulsa with wins on Sunday.

Cory Day finished in fifth place at heavyweight. Day dropped his semifinal match to Grady Griess (Navy), 4-1. Griess went on to win the title. In the consolation semifinals, Day lost a 4-1 decision to Ben Goldin (Penn). Day met Dorian Crosby in the fifth place bout. Day had beaten Crosby earlier in the tournament to punch his ticket to Tulsa. Day regrouped and won a 3-0 decision over Crosby.

At 165 pounds, Brevin Cassella lost 3-1 to eventual champion Julian Ramirez (Cornell) in sudden victory of the semifinals. In the first bloodround, Cassella secured his automatic spot in the NCAA field for the second straight season. Cassella prevailed with a 2-1 win over Dalton Harkins (Army). Cassella accumulated 1:47 of riding time in the bout, which proved to be the difference. In the third place bout, Cassella was edged by Josh Ogunsanya (Columbia), 2-1.

At 184 pounds, Jacob Nolan earned his automatic bid with a hard-fought 3-1 win in the semifinals over Brian Bonino (Drexel) in sudden victory.
