Softball Heads To George Mason For Weekend Series

Bearcats and Patriots to play noon DHs Saturday and Sunday

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (9-5) has won its past six games – marking its longest winning streak since taking eight straight decisions in 2016. The Bearcats went a perfect 4-0 this past weekend at the Hampton/Norfolk State Tournament. As a team, Binghamton hit .376 during the tournament and averaged 8.75 runs per game.

- Redshirt sophomore utility player Lindsey Walter – the current America East Player of the Week – ranks first in the America East in batting (.483), on-base percentage (.455), ERA (1.35) and saves (two). Fellow redshirt sophomore utility player Brianna Santos leads the conference with 13 RBI while graduate student second baseman Alli Richmond is tied for second with a pair of home runs. Sophomore outfielder Laney Harbaugh, meanwhile, is tied for first with 11 stolen bases.
Walter is ranked No 25 in the nation in batting and No. 23 in on-base percentage. Harbaugh is ranked No. 16 with 0.79 stolen bases per game while graduate student pitcher Sophia Pappas is No. 38 with 9.6 strikeouts per game.

- Binghamton enters the series against George Mason with all three current America East weekly award winners. In addition to Walters, junior Allison L'Amoreaux is the Pitcher of the Week and freshman Brianna Roberts is the Rookie of the Week. This marks the third time in program history that the Bearcats have swept the America East awards and the first time since 2019.

- George Mason (9-5) split four games at the Virginia Tournament this past weekend. The Patriots enter the series against Binghamton having won seven of their last 10 minutes.

- Elyssa DeRosa -who has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week the past two weeks - leads George Mason with a .462 batting average. Haley Taormina has a team-best two home runs and 20 RBI. On the mound, Jordan Tallman is 4-1 with a 2.18 ERA.

- In the national stats, George Mason is ranked second with 4.00 stolen bases per game. DeRosa is ranked No. 35 in batting while Taormina is ninth with 1.43 RBI per game.

- George Mason leads the all-time series against Binghamton 3-2. Most recently, the Patriots took a 6-1 home decision on March 15, 2014. The Bearcats' last win in the series was a 3-2 win on March 12. 2011 at the James Madison Tournament. Current Binghamton head coach Jess Bump was a starting freshman shortstop on that year's Bearcat squad.
