Allison L'Amoreaux had a career-high three RBI and freshman shortstop
Akira Kopec belted a two-run home run, powering Binghamton (20-12, 7-4 AE) to an 8-0, five-inning win over Bryant (11-23, 3-8 AE) in an America East softball game on Sunday afternoon at Conaty Park. With the victory, the Bearcats sweep the three-game weekend series and have now won six of their last eight games.
L'Amoreaux went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles to finish the weekend 4-for-6 (.667). She opened the scoring on Sunday with a two-run double in the top of the fourth inning and later doubled in another run in the top of the fifth inning.
Kopec, meanwhile, hit her two-run homer in the top of the fourth inning. For the weekend, she hit a team-best .714 (5-for-7) and also drew a pair of walks.
The Bearcats' five-run fourth inning also included an RBI single by freshman pitcher
Brianna Roberts. On the mound, she tossed three perfect innings to improve to 9-2 on the season. Roberts finished the weekend 4-for-6 at the plate (.667) and 2-0 on the mound with a 1.15 ERA.
Following L'Amoreaux's double in the top of the fifth inning, which padded the lead to 6-0, the Bearcats got their final two runs off of wild pitches later in the frame.
Graduate student pitcher
Sophia Pappas threw the final two scoreless innings to lock up the win.
The loss was tagged to Brooke Tracy, who is now 1-6.
Graduate student second baseman
Alli Richmond was 2-for-3 and scored a pair of runs.
Pappas finished the weekend with nine scoreless innings thrown.
Binghamton as a team hit .454 during the weekend and compiled a 1.15 ERA. The Bearcats ended the weekend by not allowing a run over the final 16 innings.
The Bearcats host Syracuse on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in a non-conference doubleheader.
NOTE: The last time Binghamton recorded back-to-back shutouts come on Feb. 19-20, 2022 against the College of Charleston (1-0) and Valparaiso (3-0).
