Softball Heads to Maine for AE Series

Bearcats and Black Bears to play Saturday DH at noon, 11 a.m. game on Sunday

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (26-13, 10-4 AE) has won six straight games as well as 12 of its last 15 games. In addition, the Bearcats have won their past seven conference games.

- In its most recent action, Binghamton swept Army 10-6, 6-1 on Tuesday to conclude its home schedule with a 10-2 record. Junior pinch hitter Shelby Carvalho and redshirt sophomore pinch hitter Gabby Guerrero each clubbed a three-run home run during the doubleheader while sophomore outfielder Laney Harbaugh hit a team-best .556 (5-for-9).  

- Redshirt sophomore pitcher/designated player Lindsey Walter leads the America East and ranks fourth in the nation with a .475 batting average. She also ranks No. 17 in the NCAA Division I rankings with a .532 on-base percentage. Freshman pitcher Brianna Roberts is No. 30 with a 5.44 strikeouts-to-walks ratio while Harbaugh is No. 39 with 0.53 stolen bases per game.

- As a team, Binghamton ranks first in the conference and No. 37 in the nation with a .306 batting average. In addition, the Bearcats are No. 31 in on-base percentage (.392) and No. 50 in runs per game (5.28). Also at the America East level, Binghamton is first in fielding percentage (.968) and second in ERA (2.96).

- Redshirt sophomore third baseman Brianna Santos ranks second on the team and third in the America East with a .355 batting average. She is also first in the conference with 37 RBI and tied with sophomore Sarah Rende for first with 10 doubles. Harbaugh, meanwhile, is fifth in the America East with a .335 batting average and is tied with Walter for first with 20 runs.

- On the mound, Roberts is fourth in the conference with a 2.51 ERA, third with 87 strikeouts and is tied for third with nine wins. Graduate student pitcher Sophia Pappas is seventh with a 2.86 ERA and is tied for fifth with 81 strikeouts.

- Maine (12-32, 3-10 AE) swept Stonehill 9-0, 9-4 on Wednesday. Grace McGouldrick ranks sixth in the America East in batting (.333) and is first with 28 stolen bases. She is also sixth with a .415 on-base percentage.

- Maine leads the all-time series against Binghamton 21-18. Earlier this season, however, the Bearcats swept a 9-1, 4-3 doubleheader at home on March 26. Rende with 6-for-7 (.857) with three extra-base hits and four RBI during the doubleheader.

- With 37 RBI so far this season, Santos ranks No. 12 in program history. In a tie for 10th place are Jessica Rutherford (2017) and Lisa Cadogan (2013) with 38 RBI. In a tie for eighth place are Crysti Eichner (2016) and Cadogan (2016) – each with 39 RBI.

- With 20 stolen bases so far this season, Harbaugh is seventh all-time in program history. There is a three-way tie for sixth place with 23 stolen bases - most recently by Gabby Bracchi in 2016. Harbaugh is already tied for sixth place all time in program history with 39 stolen bases with Jessica Phillips (2010-13). In fifth place with 41 stolen bases is Colleen Dougherty (2011-14).

- Heading into the weekend series at Maine, Walter and Rende each have a team-best, six-game hitting streak. Harbaugh has reached base in a team-best 11 straight games followed by Pappas with a nine-game streak. On the mound, Pappas has won her last three decisions.
