ORONO, Maine – Binghamton (28-13, 12-4 AE) rode strong pitching and late-inning heroics at the plate to record a 3-1, 4-1 sweep over Maine (12-34, 3-12 AE) in an America East softball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at the UMaine Softball Complex. With the victories, the Bearcats extend their winning streak to eight games and their conference winning streak to nine straight decisions.

On the mound, the Bearcats got solid pitching from graduate student

With the first game tied at 1-1, Rende led off the top of the sixth inning with a triple. She scored two batters later on an RBI single by L'Amoreaux. One inning later, freshman shortstop
Akira Kopec, who led off the frame with a single, scored an unearned run courtesy of a fielding error.

th RBI of the season.

Alysen Reith took the loss, dropping her record to 5-6.
Roberts' 10 wins is the most by a Binghamton freshman pitcher since Sarah Miller won 11 times during the 2015 season.
