LOWELL, Mass. - UMass Lowell (18-33, 10-13 America East) scored seven runs in the first three innings and went on to a 17-7 win over Binghamton baseball (26-20, 12-11 AE) Friday afternoon at LeLacheur Park.Â
The River Hawks totaled 17 hits and 17 runs off six BU pitchers and kept the Bearcats' offense off the board for seven of nine innings. The teams have now split the first two games of the series and will play the rubber game and the final regular season game Saturday morning. Binghamton can finish anywhere from third to fifth in the standings, depending on Friday's later results and Saturday's final three conference games.Â
Sophomore second baseman
Nick Roselli went 2-for-2 with a solo home run to keep up his momentum. He extended his hit streak to 14 games and raised his season average to .374, third-highest in the America East. His RBI count of 57 also ranks third in the conference. Sophomore third baseman

Mike Gunning went 2-for-2. Among BU's half-dozen pitchers, junior
John Lumpinski was the most effective, going 2.2 scoreless innings.Â
Lowell broke ahead early with three runs in the first inning, two more in the second and another pair in the third. Down 7-0, BU struck for three runs in the sixth, but the River Hawks offset that with a six-run outburst in the bottom of the frame. The teams then traded four-run innings down the stretch.
In the sixth, Roselli led off with a solo home run - his team-high 10th of the season. Then with one out, Gunning singled and Bade brought him in with an RBI double. After a walk to junior first baseman
