Women's soccer falls at Seton Hall 3-0

Bearcats back in action Sunday night at Syracuse

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Host Seton Hall (2-1) scored twice in the first half and added another in the second half to topple Binghamton women's soccer (0-2-1) 3-0 Thursday afternoon at Owen T. Carroll Field.

The Bearcats outshot the Pirates in the second half and with three corner kicks, created dangerous moments but ultimately couldn't match the hosts' conversion rate.

"It was a tough match today," head coach Neel Bhattacharjee said. "We knew it would be difficult playing a BIG EAST team on the road. After a nervy start we did pretty well in possession over an extended period and it was unfortunate to have given up a goal against the run of play. The second goal hurt and we can respond better from that. We kep growing an developing and matchups like this will pay big dividends in the long run. We will take the lessons and get ready for another tough matchup Sunday evening."

The Bearcats continue a challenging stretch at ACC member Syracuse Sunday night.

On Thursday, Seton Hall struck in the 16th minute on a heavy 17-yard blast that junior keeper Kaitlyn Williams got a piece of but couldn't stop. The Pirates doubled their lead in the 35th minute on a thru ball in the middle of the box. Williams stopped the initial shot but the Seton Hall striker knocked home the rebound for a 2-0 margin. The hosts added a third goal in the 73rd minute after a cross from the right was tapped in at the far post.

Williams made four saves.
