Women’s Tennis Drops 5-2 Match to Le Moyne

Aruj picks up wins in singles and doubles

Box Score BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (BUBearcats.com) - The Binghamton University women's tennis team opened up Northeast Conference play with a 5-2 loss to Le Moyne Sunday afternoon at the Lane-Starke Tennis Center. 

Junior Natalia Aruj picked up wins in doubles and singles for the Bearcats, taking down the Dolphins No.1 doubles duo 6-1 with teammate Loren Cuomo

The junior also took a commanding win in the first singles slot with a 6-0, 6-2 straight set victory over Le Moyne's Stella Simeonova. 

First-year Nitya Vyas recorded her first win as a Bearcat at No.5 singles as she defeated her Dolphin opponent 6-3, 6-4.

Cuomo sent her match against Le Moyne's Isabella Barona to three sets after dropping the first 0-6 and coming back to take the second 6-3 before losing the deciding frame 3-6.  

Next up,the Bearcats are back on road next weekend at the Army Invitational in West Point, N.Y. The contest will be held across three days, Sept. 22-24.
