BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (BUBearcats.com) - The Binghamton University women's tennis team dropped its season opener 7-0 to Boston University inside the Lane-Starke Tennis Center Friday night.
"Overall I was pleased with how we competed against a strong Boston team," said Head Coach Libby McGovern. "There are definitely things that are within our control that we need to focus on in order to be able to string more points together to create more stress on our opponents. I'm looking forward to our match Sunday with Bucknell to build on what we did tonight."
Nitya Vyas and Abby Ackroyd put together the Bearcats best doubles showing in the second slot, grabbing three games but ultimately falling to the Terriers 6-2.
Ackroyd earned the best individual Bearcat finish at No. 4 singles, notching four games in a 6-1, 6-3 straight set loss to BU's Uma Bakaityte.
Binghamton returns to action in the Lane-Starke Tennis Center this Sunday, Jan. 21 against Bucknell. Match time is slated for 10 a.m.
