Women’s Tennis Preps for Weekend at Army

Bearcats face Sacred Heart, Army in West Point

WEST POINT, N.Y. (BUBearcats.com) - The Binghamton women's tennis team (0-4) will travel east this weekend to take on Sacred Heart, Friday, Jan. 26, and Army, Saturday, Jan. 27 inside the Malek Tennis Center. 

Friday's match is slated for 11 a.m. while Saturday's dual is scheduled for 8 a.m. 

BU will see its first NEC opponent of the spring season in Sacred Heart, third of the 2023-24 campaign after dropping matches to Le Moyne, Sept. 17, and Saint Francis (Pa), Oct. 28. The Bearcats' own 8-3 series record over the Pioneers, although they lost their last match 7-0 to SHU on the road, Jan. 27, 2023. 

Binghamton travels to Army for the second time this season after participating in the West Point Invite in September. The Black Knights hold a 16-0 series lead over the Bearcats, with the last match-up coming 4-0 in Army's favor on the road, Jan. 28, 2023.

BU fell 7-0 to Boston University and Bucknell University in the team's season opener last weekend. The doubles pairing of Abby Ackroyd and Nitya Vyas fared the best against the tough competition, earning five games over the Terriers and Bison. 

Caterina Casadei and Ackroyd had the best Bearcat finishes in singles over the weekend. Casadei picked up four games against Bucknell while Ackroyd grabbed three games versus Boston. 

Next up, Binghamton returns home for another conference dual against Merrimack, Feb. 4. Match time is set for 2 p.m. inside the Lane-Starke Tennis Center.
