Volleyball Heads to Colgate Wednesday

Bearcats look to snap five-match skid against Raiders

HAMILTON, N.Y. (binghamtonbearcats.com) - Binghamton Volleyball (12-8, 2-2) is set to face Colgate (9-9, 7-1) in a midweek nonconference match, Wednesday, Oct. 16, on Cotterell Court. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. 

The contest will be broadcast on ESPN+ and can be followed via live stats here at binghamtonbearcats.com. 

Last time out, Binghamton fell at New Hampshire, 3-0, Sunday afternoon, Oct. 13. The Bearcats lead the Wildcats in aces, 10-5, the third time this season the team has recorded double-digits from the service line.

Tsvetelina Ilieva earned her fourth America East Player of the Week honor this fall, the conference announced Tuesday morning, the ninth of her Bearcat career. Ilieva averaged a league-best 5.8 kills per set in two matches for Binghamton last week. 

The fifth-year senior posted 20 or more kills in back-to-back matches with 21 vs. Temple, Oct. 9, and 25 vs. UNH, Oct. 13. Her 25 kills against New Hampshire tied for the most by any player nationally in a three set match this season. Ilieva recorded a season-high six service aces against the Wildcats while chipping in 15 digs and five blocks across the two contests. 

As a team, Binghamton leads the America East with a .252 attack percentage. The Bearcats also rank second in the league with 16.98 points, 12.88 kills, 11.90 assists, 2.31 blocks and 1.79 service aces per set. 

Ilieva leads the conference with 4.73 kills per set and 5.49 points per set. She ranks second nationally with 406.5 total points and 350 total kills. Ilieva also sits second in the America East with .46 service aces per set and a .284 hitting percentage. 

Misa Dlouha is second in the league with 1.26 blocks per set to rank eleventh in the country with 93 total blocks. Lottie Scully's 7.96 assists per set also put her second in the America East.  

Colgate leads the series against Binghamton 7–6 since 2001. The Raiders have won the last five matches against the Bearcats 12-5 and took the most recent contest 3-0 in Vestal, Sept. 26, 2023. 

Next up, the Bearcats host America East opponent NJIT, Sunday, Oct. 20, for its Dig Pink match. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
