Volleyball Begins AE Roadtrip at UAlbany

Bearcats look to pick up fourth America East victory Friday night

ALBANY, N.Y. (binghamtonbearcats.com) - Binghamton Volleyball (13-9, 3-2) continues its America East schedule at UAlbany (8-11, 2-3), Friday, Oct. 25, inside PE Gym. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. 

The contest will be broadcast on America East TV and can be followed via live stats here at binghamtonbearcats.com. 

Last time out, the Bearcats defeated NJIT, 3-0, Sunday afternoon, Oct. 20, inside the Events Center. Binghamton recorded a season-high 13 service aces to lead NJIT 13-5 from the service line. The Bearcats have posted double digit service aces four times this season and led their opponents from the service line in 12 matches. 

Tsvetelina Ilieva earned her fifth America East Player of the Week award this fall, the conference announced Tuesday morning. Ilieva averaged 5.9 kills per set with a .330 attack percentage and 3.3 digs per set in two matches for Binghamton last week. The fifth-year outside hitter posted two double-doubles with 28 kills and 10 digs vs. Colgate; 12 kills and 13 digs vs. NJIT. Her 28 kills against Colgate Wednesday night matched Ilieva's career-high in the category. She also recorded four of the Bearcats season-best 13 service aces against NJIT Sunday afternoon.  

As a team, Binghamton leads the America East with 17.12 points per set, 1.89 service aces per set and a .254 attack percentage. The Bearcats also rank second in the league with 12.99 kills, 12.08 assists and 2.24 blocks per set. 

Ilieva leads the conference with 4.81 kills per set and 5.57 points per set. She ranks second nationally with 451.5 total points and 390 total kills. Ilieva also sits second in the America East with .48 service aces per set. 

Misa Dlouha is second in the league with 1.21 blocks per set to rank 22nd in the country with 98 total blocks. Lottie Scully's 8.28 assists per set also put her second in the America East.  

UAlbany owns a 32-19 record over Binghamton since 1997. The Bearcats won their last four contests against the Great Danes 12-1, including a 3-0 victory at home earlier this season, Sept. 27. 

Up next, Binghamton heads to Smithfield, R.I.,for another America East matchup at Bryant, Friday, Nov. 1. Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
