Men’s Soccer Battles to 1-1 Tie Against Bucknell

Constante scores on PK but Bison deadlock match in 83rd minute

VESTAL, N.Y. – Zane Domsohn scored in the 83rd minute as Bucknell (4-4-3) gained a 1-1 tie against Binghamton (6-5-2) in a non-conference men's soccer game on Tuesday evening at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The match marked the Bearcats' final non-conference match of the season.

Domshon's goal, which was his first of the season, was set up by teammates Drew Roskos and Cade Whitmire off a free kick. Domshon eventually got behind the Bearcat defense and scored from close range.

The Bearcats had struck first when junior forward Lucas Constante converted a penalty kick in the 56th minute. His goal - which was his first of the season - took place after the Bison were called for a foul inside of the box. It was Binghamton's first penalty kick attempt of the year.

Following the game-tying goal, Binghamton had a pair of shots on goal in the final seven minutes of play. Both of them were saved, however, by Freddie Lapworth from close range to preserve the tie.

"I thought we played pretty well tonight," head coach Paul Marco said. "I thought we played well enough to win so we are disappointed to have given up a goal that late. But overall, I'm very pleased with how we played and this is a good Bucknell team we faced."

Both Lapworth and graduate student Dylan McDermott were kept busy during the match. Lapworth made eight saves while McDermott finished with seven stops.

The Bison held a 15-13 overall advantage in total shots but the Bearcats finished with a 9-8 edge in shots on goal.

Binghamton returns to America East play at New Hampshire on Saturday at 6 p.m.

NOTES: Bucknell is currently tied for first in the Patriot League with a 2-0-2 record .. the last time the Bearcats converted a penalty kick was by Matthew Cozetti against UMass Lowell back on Oct. 15, 2022.
