Volleyball to Conclude Nonconference Slate at Lehigh

Bearcats look to extend win streak to six

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (binghamtonbearcats.com) - Binghamton Volleyball (17-9, 7-2) will conclude its nonconference schedule at Lehigh (14-11, 7-8), Wednesday, Nov. 13. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. inside Leeman-Turner Arena.

Last time out,  Binghamton picked up two critical wins over UMBC, 3-0, and UNH, 3-2, at home this weekend to move into first place in the America East standings with one week to go in the regular season. 

The Bearcats swept the Retrievers Friday night to mark the team's first win against UMBC since Oct. 30, 2022 and first at home since Nov. 5, 2017. Binghamton out-blocked UMBC 10-8 in the victory, the team's tenth match in double-digits at net this season. 

Binghamton completed the reverse sweep over New Hampshire Sunday afternoon, winning the final three sets after dropping the first two. The feat is the second for Binghamton this season after the Bearcats beat Boston College, 3-2, Sept. 7. Binghamton recorded a season-high 94 digs against the Wildcats. Four players, Tsvetelina Ilieva (17), Lottie Scully (16), Emily Cronkhite (14) and Danit Cohen (12) registered double-digit digs in the win. 

Ilieva earned her sixth Player of the Week nod this year, the 11th of her storied Bearcat career. Ilieva averaged 4.9 kills per set at .304 along with three digs and .75 blocks per set across the two matches. The outside hitter registered 19 kills at .457 in 3-0 sweep of UMBC Friday night then posted her tenth double-double of the year with 20 kills and a season-high 17 digs in 3-2 win over New Hampshire Sunday afternoon.  

Ilieva set a new Binghamton single-season program record Sunday against UNH with 459 total kills, besting Iva Partaleva's 2012 mark of 448 kills. Her 73 attack attempts against UNH also tied Katie Brody's 2005 single-game school record against Niagara. 

Scully picked up her third consecutive Setter of the Week distinction Tuesday, her fifth this fall and 12th of her Binghamton career. Scully averaged 11.1 assists, 4.3 digs and .86 blocks per set this weekend.

The junior posted two doubles with 40 assists and a season-high 18 digs against UMBC Friday night along with 49 assists and 16 digs over New Hampshire Sunday afternoon. Scully's 40 helpers vs. the Retrievers are the most by any America East setter in a three-set match this season.

Viktoria Dimitrova recorded her second Rookie of the Week win after she averaged 3.3 points and 3.1 kills per set for Binghamton last weekend. The right side hitter registered double-digit kills in back-to-back matches with 12 against UMBC and 13 over New Hampshire. She also chipped in seven digs and four blocks across the two contests. 

Binghamton leads the America East with 17.05 points per set and a .250 attack percentage. The Bearcats also rank second in the league with 12.94 kills, 11.98 assists and 2.35 blocks per set. 

Ilieva leads the conference with 4.73 kills, 5.49 points and .43 service aces per set. She ranks fourth nationally with 532.5 total points, sixth with 459 total kills, ninth with 4.73 kills per set and tenth with 5.49 points per set.

Scully ranks first in the America East with 8.59 assists per set and 833 total assists  Misa Dlouha also sits first in the league with 1.26 blocks per set and a .342 attack percentage. 

The all-time series between Binghamton and Lehigh stands tied at one match apiece. The Bearcats took down Lehigh 3-0 in their last meeting, Sept. 9, 2023, in Pennsylvania. 

Up next, Binghamton finishes out the regular season at NJIT this Sunday, Nov. 19. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m. inside the Joel & Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center.
