Women’s Basketball Defeats SUNY Geneseo 75-42

Krysztof scores career-best 17 points, Goode adds season-best 15 points

VESTAL, N.Y. – Sophomore guard Kaylee Krysztof poured in a career-high 17 points while junior guard Kaia Goode scored a season-best 15 points, powering Binghamton (8-5) to a 75-42 victory over SUNY Geneseo (4-5) in a non-conference women's basketball game on Monday evening at Dr. Bai Lee Court at the Events Center. The game marked the Bearcats' final non-conference contest of the season. 

Krysztof shot 6-of-9 from the field and was 5-of-8 from behind the three-point arc. She also contributed two rebounds, two steals and one assist. Goode, meanwhile, shot 5-for-7 from both the field and three-point range.

 As a team, Binghamton recorded a season-high 13 three-point field goals and 23 assists. The Bearcats also finished with a season-low five turnovers.

After the Knights took a 5-3 lead early in the first quarter, the Bearcats went on an 8-0 run in a span of 2:04 to take an 11-5 lead.

The Bearcats did not slow down in the second period, scoring 13 straight in a span of 5:11 which increased their lead to 44-15. It wrapped up the best offensive half this season for Binghamton as they took a  44-17 lead at the break.

Binghamton maintained at least a 30-point lead for the majority of the second half.

"Taking care of the basketball tonight against (Geneso's) defense was really impressive by our team," head coach Mary Grimes said. "We have been preaching about finding the open person tonight and I thought we also did a really good job with that tonight."

Freshman center Abby Misier finished with eight points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out one assist. Freshman guard Samantha Baker also netted eight points and added four rebounds, one assist and a steal. 

Sophomore forward Kendall Bennet led the Bearcats in rebounds, securing eight during the contest. She also scored six points.

Sophomore guard Bella Pucci and redshirt junior guard Jadyn Wetlz each dished a game-high six assists. Pucci added six points, three steals and one rebound as well.

Kiley Snow led Geneseo in scoring with 10 points. Audrey Hintz tied for the game high with eight boards.

Binghamton travels to NJIT Thursday for a 6 p.m. game to start America East conference play.
