Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Temple, 15-6

Carroll, Muscolino net two goals apiece in loss

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (BUBearcats.com) - The Binghamton women's lacrosse team (0-2,0-0) fell 15-6 to Temple (2-0, 0-0) on the road Wednesday afternoon. 

Despite the loss, BU owned a 8-6 saves advantage over the Owls and converted on two out of four of their free position attempts. 

Olivia Muscolino and Abby Carroll netted two goals apiece while Madison Murphy and Kristen Scheidel also found the back of the net during the contest. 

Hayley Weltner recorded a team-high six draw controls along with three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Carroll tacked on a Bearcat best four caused turnovers while posting three ground balls. 

Sofia Salgado made eight saves and recovered four ground balls in her second start in goal. 

Mia Forte made her Binghamton debut, notching an assist off Scheidel's fourth quarter goal. 

Carroll opened up scoring this afternoon, recording the game's first goal with 9:22 remaining in the first quarter to give BU the early 1-0 advantage. 

Temple went on to score 11 unanswered goals until Murphy broke its streak in the third quarter with a goal off an assist from Muscolino. 

Muscolino responded with her own goal two minutes later, finding the back of the net on a free position with 3:41 left in the third quarter to cut the Owls lead to 11-3. 

Temple registered three more goals before Scheidel and Carroll went back-to-back for the Bearcats in the fourth quarter, bringing the score 14-5 in favor of the Owls. 

Both teams grabbed one more goal, BU's coming unassisted from Muscolino with 21 seconds remaining, before the end of regulation. 

Next up, Binghamton hosts Marist this Sunday, Feb. 18, at the Bearcat Sports Complex. Start time is slated for 1 p.m.
