VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton men's basketball (13-14, 5-9 America East) made 4-of-6 shots in overtime and sank 6-of-8 free throws to hold off visiting Maine (13-16, 5-9 AE) 76-74 Thursday night at Dr. Bai Lee Court at the Events Center. With the win, BU completed a season sweep of the Black Bears, clinched a playoff spot and moved into a four-way tie for fifth place in the standings with two regular-season games remaining.

Armon Harried stepped back into the point guard role with No. 2 NCAA assist man
Symir Torrence sidelined and Harried produced 16 points, eight rebounds and a career-high seven assists in the full 45 minutes. Freshman forward
Gavin Walsh scored a game-high 17 points with nine rebounds, graduate forward
Dan Petcash notched team-high third double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 boards and senior guard
Tymu Chenery added 13 points and in the process, eclipsed the 1,000-point career scoring mark.
"It was a big-time game and one we really wanted," head coach
Levell Sanders said. "Maine is a scrappy team that plays hard and they play a zone, so some of our guys were talking about shooting 'the lights out' today and they did. It was a total team effort and I'm happy we got the 'W.'"
After leading by as many as 13 points in the first half, BU had to settle for a 39-31 halftime edge and then saw the lead disappear in a 14-0 Black Bears run early in the second half. Maine led by six with less than six minutes left in regulation before the Bearcats rallied. Petcash and Harried knocked down 3-pointers in a 1:16 span to push BU on top, 60-58, with 3:41 left. Walsh added a layup with 2:26 left before the teams played the final 2:07 without any scoring, sending the game to overtime.
In the extra session, senior forward
Nehemiah Benson doubled his point total from regulation and his two buckets and two steals ignited BU's push in the five-minute OT. Playing with the lead, the Bearcats made just enough free throws (four in the final 14 seconds) to prevail, despite missing 12 foul shots in the game.
Binghamton entered the game averaging just five 3-pointers but hit 7-of-10 in the first half, including a pair from Harried. The Bearcats made 11-of-23 for the game, their second-highest total of the season.
Chenery reached the 1,000-point milestone with a layup with 1:25 left in overtime. The bucket broke a 68-68 tie and gave BU the lead for good. He scored 642 points in three seasons at Quinnipiac and now has 359 points as a Bearcat.
The Bearcats play their final home game of the regular season on Saturday when they host New Hampshire at 2 p.m.
