SMITHFIELD, R.I. Bryant (22-11, 101-1 America East) pulled away with four runs in their final two at-bats to defeat visiting Binghamton baseball (13-18, 3-9 AE) 7-2 Sunday afternoon at Conaty Park.
The Bearcats trailed 3-1 before Bryant scored three runs in the seventh and added another in the eighth. Binghamton scored once in the ninth but it wasn't enough to avoid a weekend sweep at the hands of the first-place Bulldogs.Â
Graduate reliever
Theo Farynick was the sharpest of three BU pitchers. Farynick worked 3.0 scoreless, 1-hit middle innings to keep the Bearcats in the game. He struck out a pair and lowered his season ERA to 1.32 in nine appearances.
Offensively, junior third baseman
Devan Bade went 2-for-4. Junior right fielder
Mike Gunning belted his conference-leading 13th home run and senior DH
Kevin Reilly added an RBI.
The Bearcats host Cornell at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night at the Stadium.Â
