Bearcats continue outdoor track season at non-scoring meet

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior Jenna Chan and redshirt freshman Brian Luciano set school records, highlighting Binghamton's performance at the Bucknell Outdoor Track & Field Classic. The two-day meet, which did not include team scoring, concluded on Sunday.

Chan won the women's 100 hurdles for the third time in as many outdoor meets, clocking a first-place time of 13.66. Her previous mark of 13.67 was set last May when she won the event at the America East Outdoor Championships.

Luciano, meanwhile, was second overall to an unattached thrower in the men's hammer with a school-record distance of 208-1. The previous mark of 197-8 was set by Jacob Platel back in 2014. Luciano also broke his own freshman record of 196-6, which he set back on March 30 at the Princeton/Sam Howell Invitational. Unofficially, Luciano's throw at Bucknell ranks No. 23 in the East Region rankings.

Another standout second-place performer on the men's team was senior Marcus Johnson, who was the runner up in the 400 hurdles. His time of 52.34 ranks third all time in Binghamton program history.

Also on the men's side, junior Joey Cardascia was third in the 400 (47.64).

Binghamton's top women's 4x100 relay team continued their strong season with a second-place finish at Bucknell. That quartet included seniors Gabby Hyatt and Sophia Morone, sophomore Angie Mesa-Espinosa and freshman Tatum Norris. Their time of 46.48 ranks second all time in program history.

Other second-place finishers on the women's side were junior Hillary Abankwa in the 400 (54.88) and senior Gianna Hoose in the hammer (165-11).

Up next for Binghamton is a pair of meets this coming weekend – the Virginia Challenge (April 19-20) and the Bucknell Team Challenge (April 20).
