VESTAL, N.Y. – Sophomore pitcher
Brianna Roberts fired a four-hit shutout and doubled home both runs, leading Binghamton (23-10, 5-2 AE) to a 2-0 win over Maine (3-27, 1-9 AE) in an America East softball game on Sunday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The victory is the eighth straight triumph for the Bearcats.

Roberts has now recorded a pair of shutouts so far this season as well as three during her career. Against the Black Bears on Sunday, she set a season high with 11Â strikeouts and allowed only five base runners during the 7.0 innings.

For the season, Roberts is now 8-5 with a 2.32Â ERA. She has won her past five decisions.Â

At the plate, Roberts doubled home the only runs of the game in the bottom of the first inning. She finished the day 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and drew a walk to raise her season batting average to .362.

Caitlyn Fallon of Maine pitched effectively, limiting the Bearcats to three total hits during the six innings. Her record, however, dropped to 0-6.

NOTES: Roberts now has three career games with 10 or more strikeouts. Her career best of 12 strikeouts came against UAlbany on April 8, 2023. Earlier in the season, she recorded 10 strikeouts against UNC A&T on March 2.Â
