Softball Hosts Colgate in Midweek Doubleheader

Bearcats and Raiders square off Wednesday at 4 p.m.

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (28-12) dropped two out of three games at UAlbany this past weekend, which snapped its season-high, 12-game winning streak. In the Bearcats' 8-2 win over the Great Dames in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader, junior outfielder Sarah Rende homered twice and redshirt junior third baseman Shelby Carvalho smacked a three-run home run.

- Sophomore pitcher Brianna Roberts leads the Bearcats and ranks No. 10 in the America East with a .350 batting average. Carvalho is tied for first with eight home runs while senior pitcher/first baseman Allison L'Amoreaux is eighth with 25 RBI.

- On the mound, L'Amoreaux is tied for second in the America East with 10 victories. Roberts is second with a 2.29 ERA, third with 94 strikeouts and first with four saves. Roberts and fellow sophomore pitcher Olivia Kennedy each have eight wins.

- Colgate (19-25) took two out of three games at Holy Cross this past weekend. After splitting a doubleheader in Saturday, the Raiders get a five-hit shutout from Bailey Miskin to take the finale on Sunday, 1-0.

- Jillian Herbst leads the Raiders and ranks No. 10 in the Patriot League with a .331 batting average. Kiley Shelton leads the conference with seven home runs and is tied for third with 33 RBI.

- Binghamton leads the all-time series against Colgate 20-12. Most recently, the two teams split a doubleheader at Colgate on April 5, 2022. The Bearcats won the opener 2-0 but the Raiders got even with an 8-0 win in the finale.

- The Bearcats are slated to play their remaining eight regular-season games at the Bearcats Sports Complex. Binghamton is 10-0 so far on its home field.

- With eight regular-season games remaining, Binghamton is in position to reach the 30-win mark for just the fourth time in program history. The Bearcats won a program-record 37 games in 1997, 34 games in 2016 and 30 games in 2013.

- Binghamton continues to lead the America East in fielding percentage (.971). The Bearcats are also second with a team ERA of 3.17.

- Prior to the doubleheader against Colgate, there will be a 3:30 ceremony honoring Dan McCormick, a longtime Binghamton coach and administrator who passed away in 2021. The event, which will take place at the entrance to the softball complex, will unveil a memorial in his honor.

- Wednesday's doubleheader against Colgate also marks the softball team's Binghamton Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day.
