Women’s Lacrosse Steamrolls Youngstown State, 23-4

Eight Bearcats combine for season-high 23 goals in win

VESTAL, N.Y. (BUBearcats.com) - The Binghamton women's lacrosse team (7-6, 2-1) extended its win streak to three Saturday afternoon with a 23-4 rout of Youngstown State at the Bearcat Sports Complex. 

Eight Bearcats combined for a season-high 23 goals in the team's non conference closer against the Penguins. Ten players notched a season-best 38 total points for BU in the victory. 

Binghamton dominated the stat sheet, taking four times as many shots on goal as their opponents, 32-8. The Bearcat offense also registered a 21-8 draw control advantage from the circle. 

Madison Murphy led BU with a career-best eight points on a season-high five goals and three assists. Olivia Muscolino extended her scoring streak to 30 games with four goals and four assists. 

Carla Curth set her own career high with six points on three goals and three assists. Emma Blloshmi matched her career best with four goals on six shots and a team-high eight draw controls. Kristen Scheidel netted her fourth hat trick of the spring while Mia Forte added two and Gabriella Meli chipped in one goal each.  

Keira Bauer found the back of the net for the first time in a Bearcat uniform and grabbed a career-high three draw controls. Teammate Jess Robinson recorded four assists in her sixth appearance, a career-best mark. 

Nine Bearcats posted ground balls in the victory led by Forte's four. BU's seven caused turnovers came from six different players and were led by Muscolino's two. 

Sofia Salgado and Cheyanne Carson-Banister both made appearances in goal, making two saves apiece. 

Binghamton showed its strength early, coming up with six straight goals before YSU got on the board with 7:22 left in the first quarter. Up 6-1, BU added four more goals in the frame to lead by nine after the first 15. 

The Bearcats shut out the Penguins in the second quarter, scoring seven goals on nine shots to lead 17-1 at halftime. 

Curth and Murphy went back-to-back for BU to start the half before Youngstown State grabbed its second score of the day, 19-2. Blloshmi dodged through two Penguin defenders to find the goal and close out Binghamton's third quarter scoring with 2:29 remaining, up 20-2. 

BU outscored YSU 3-2 in the final frame, highlighted by two assists from Robinson, to claim the 23-4 victory over the visiting team. 

Next up, Binghamton hosts America East member New Hampshire, Friday, April 13. Start time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
