Several completed projects will significantly enhance student-athlete experience

VESTAL, N.Y. – As Binghamton student-athletes return to campus for the 2024-25 school year, the two-time reigning America East Commissioner's Cup champions will notice four prominent facility projects that are finished or near-completed.

The largest and most visible project is the 35,000-square-foot Fieldhouse, which sits adjacent to the Events Center. The building, which broke ground in July 2023, is an expansive indoor turf facility that will accommodate practices for numerous teams throughout the year. The facility will be completed in late fall and will primarily serve the baseball, softball, men's and women's lacrosse and men's and women's soccer programs throughout the year, particularly in inclement weather.

Outdoors, the Bearcat Sports Complex practice field turf has been replaced and the deep green, plush logo-enhanced turf now matches the game field, which was replaced in 2022. The field also has a new shot clocks, wind screens, upgraded electrical and new surrounding netting.

Across the Bartle Drive main entrance to campus, visitors will notice the new Track & Field Throwing area, which is nearly complete. The space features dedicated circles for three throwing disciplines and will optimize recruiting and training efficiency.

Indoors, the team locker rooms in the Events Center and West Gym have been updated with new paint and carpeting and reconfigured to afford all student-athletes their own individual locker space.

"As we continue to evolve as a 'Destination University' for our student-athletes, we have been extremely successful in providing them with the best possible conditions to excel … academically, athletically and socially," Director of Athletics Eugene Marshall said. "This has resulted in student-athlete success in the classroom and on the fields of athletic competition, all while providing them with a great experience at Binghamton University. Special thanks to President Stenger, our donors and supporters, athletics staff and coaches for turning this vision into a reality. We still have more work to do!"

Binghamton athletics has surged to the top of the America East in the last two years, winning back-to-back Cups as the No. 1 athletics program in the conference.
