Baseball players wrap up successful summer seasons

Bade named all-conference in NECBL; Stellrecht helps Wilmington capture Coastal Plains title

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton baseball players made an impact in their respective summer league seasons across the East Coast. Fifteen Bearcat players were spread around among seven leagues with senior-to-be Devan Bade enjoying the most success.

Bade hit .358, had a .407 on-base percentage and led his Sanford Mainers team to the NECBL championship series. He produced six home runs and a team-high 30 RBI in 36 games and earned an all-star selection and then All-NECBL second team accolades. Bade's three Mainers and Binghamton teammates Evin Sullivan, Conner Griffin and Dan McAliney also were important contributors to the team's run to the finals. Sullivan hit .318 with 13 RBI in 12 games. Griffin pitched in 11 games and struck out 28 in 19 innings. He recorded two saves. McAliney went 1-0 with a 4.95 ERA in 10 games. He struck out 18 in 16.1 frames. 

Also in the NECBL was pitcher Hayden Tarsia, who started eight games for Danbury. Tarsia struck out 28 in 35.1 innings and only allowed two earned runs over his final three outings. 

Infielder Mike Stellrecht and his Wilmington Sharks team won the Coastal Plains League. Stellrecht played 22 games and had a .388 on-base percentage. Ian Kaiser had a strong season for Essex in the Atlantic Collegiate League, batting .337 with nine extra-base hits in 29 games. Tim Hennig played 32 games for Southampton in the Hamptons Collegiate League and hit .270 with 24 RBI and 20 stolen bases. Ben Griffith pitched for Worcester in the Futures League and worked nine games with six starts. He struck out 24 in 21.1 innings and went 1-1 with a 5.06 ERA. Todd Abraham played 27 games for Utica in the Perfect Game Collegiate League and hit .272 with nine RBI. Pitcher/infielder Jake Dally competed for Southside in the East Coast Collegiate Baseball League and was named to the all-star team.

Second baseman Nick Roselli and pitcher Jackson Mitchell both played for Bourne in the elite Cape Cod League. Roselli played nine games before turning his attention to the MLB Draft and his selection by the New York Mets. Mitchell appeared in four games for the Braves, who advanced to the CCBL championship series. He struck out six in eight innings.
