BOYDS, Md. - Host American (2-1-1) scored twice in the first half and held off visiting Binghamton women's soccer (1-2-2) 2-0 Sunday afternoon at Maryland SoccerPlex. It was the Bearcats' first loss in three games.
The Eagles scored goals in the seventh and 26th minutes before the sides played the remaining 64 minutes even.
Binghamton registered eight of its 11 shots in the second half and senior keeper
Kaitlyn Williams made four saves to keep American off the board.Â
"It was a tough loss today," head coach
Neel Bhattacharjee said. "We had a slow start that cost us and didn't quite follow the game plan in detail. I was pleased with the response in the intensity we showed in the second half. Credit to American on a good plan. We learned we can't take anyone lightly and be ready for the quality each opponent will bring for 90 minutes."
Binghamton returns to action Thursday night when ACC foe Syracuse comes to the Bearcats Sports Complex.Â
