Men’s Soccer Wins 3-1 at Saint Peter’s

Bearcats score three goals in 17 minutes to win third straight match

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Visiting Binghamton (5-2-1) reeled off three goals in a stretch of 17 minutes during the second half, sparking a 3-1 win over Saint Peter's (0-6-1) in a non-conference men's soccer game on Tuesday afternoon at Jaroschak Field. The victory is the third straight for the Bearcats, who in the process equaled their victory from all of 2023.

The three consecutive wins is the most by the Bearcats since they also took three straight decisions from Sept. 18-Oct. 2, 2021. Binghamton is also unbeaten in their last four matches (3-0-1) - a feat it last accomplished when it was 3-0-2 to start the 2016 season.

Binghamton's three goals against Saint Peters is its highest total since defeating UAlbany 3-1 on Oct. 7, 2023. During its current four-match unbeaten streak, the Bearcats have outscored their opponents 7-3.

Against the Peacocks, graduate student back Chris Comber, redshirt sophomore back Gaven Egan and sophomore forward Anthony Randazzo came up with the goals. Randazzo now has a team-best three goals while Comber scored for the second time in three matches. Egan, meanwhile, netted the first goal of his career.

"We played very well in both halves," head coach Paul Marco said. "Our shot selection wasn't as good in the first half. We were shooting from further out. But we knew the goals would come and in the second half, we did a better job of getting high-percentage shots.

Combers' goal, which happened in the 48th minute, came when he got a loose ball in front of the net. Egan's score in the 57th minute, was off a corner kick and assisted by freshman back Ryan Gillon and senior back Luke Yates. Randazzo, meanwhile, scored from close range in the 65th minute after taking a pass from junior forward Lucas Constante.

The Bearcats missed the shutout by just 16 seconds when Conlan Pavanti converted a penalty kick.

Binghamton out shot St. Peter's 15-6 for the match and had a 6-3 lead in shots on goal.

Graduate student goalkeeper Dylan McDermott made a pair of saves in the victory.

Binghamton returns home to face Central Connecticut on Saturday at 1 p.m. on Family Weekend.

NOTES: Yates now has a career-best five total points this season (two goals and an assist). He also leads the Bearcats with a pair of game-winning goals … ten of Binghamton's 11 goals so far this season have been scored in the second half of play.
