Volleyball Competes at Rose Hill Classic Friday

Bearcats finish out invitational play at Fordham

BRONX, N.Y. (BinghamtonBearcats.com) - Binghamton Volleyball (7-4) will finish up invitational play this weekend at Fordham's Rose Hill Classic. The Bearcats will play host Fordham, Friday, Sept. 20, at 4 p.m. and West Virginia, Saturday, Sept. 21, at 2 p.m. 

Friday's match against Fordham will be broadcast on ESPN+ and both contests can be followed via live stats here at binghamtonbearcats.com. 

Last time out, Binghamton fell to Cornell, 3-1, Wednesday night on the road. Tsvetelina Ilieva earned a team-high 18 kills at a .400 clip against the Big Red, her eighth straight match with double-digit kills this fall and fifth time hitting .300 or better. With 12 digs on the night, Ilieva recorded her third double-double this season and the 22nd in her career. 

Ilieva also picked up her first America East Player of the Week honor Tuesday morning, the sixth of her career. The fifth-year outside hitter averaged 4.8 kills and 1.5 digs per set while hitting .389 last week for Binghamton. Ilieva recorded double-digit kills in all three victories, including a season-high 20 in the 3-1 win over Hofstra, Sept. 11. In addition to her offensive output, Ilieva chipped in 15 digs, eight blocks, five service aces and two assists across three matches. 

As a team, Binghamton leads the America East with 16.83 points per set, a .239 attack percentage and 1.77 opponent blocks per set. Ilieva owns the league's top spot with 3.78 kills per set and 4.51 points per set while Misa Dlouha leads the conference with 1.55 blocks per set. 

Dlouha ranks first in the nation with 62 total blocks while her 1.61 blocks per set total is 11th in the country. Ilieva's 180.5 point total ranks ninth nationally.  
 
Binghamton owns a 2-1 all-time record over Fordham and took the teams last matchup, 3-1, on neutral ground, Sept. 10, 2016. West Virginia leads the series against the Bearcats 2-0 and won the last contest, 3-1, Sept. 15, 2022, in Morgantown, W. Va. 

Next up, Binghamton heads north on I-81 for a midweek match against Le Moyne, Tuesday, Sept. 24. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.
