Volleyball Heads to Villanova Wednesday

Bearcats set to play first road match of the season

VILLANOVA, Pa. (BinghamtonBearcats.com) - The Binghamton University volleyball team (1-2) will travel to Villanova (0-2), Wednesday night for a non-conference road match. Start time is slated for 6 p.m. at the Jake Nevin Field House.

The contest will be broadcast on FloSports and can be followed via live stats.

The Bearcats won their season debut at The Bearcat Classic in a convincing win against Merrimack, 3-0, Friday morning, Aug. 30. Binghamton followed the win with two losses to Toledo, 3-0, on Friday evening and Bucknell, 3-0, on Saturday, Aug. 31.

In her first three matches for Binghamton, Emily Cronkhite recorded 27 digs and became the team's sole honoree on The Bearcat Classic All-Tournament team.

Additionally, Tsvetelina Ilieva led the team with 21 kills and tallied 20 digs over the weekend. Lottie Scully earned a team-best 64 assists during The Bearcat Classic, 28 of which came during the team's season debut against Merrimack. 

Misa Dlouha recorded a team-high nine kills without committing an error against Toledo. This perfect performance adds to two others she recorded last season against Bryant on Oct. 8 and UAlbany on Oct. 15.

Binghamton has an all-time record of 0-2 against Villanova. The Wildcats took both matchups 3-0, Sep. 14, 2007 and Sep. 11, 2004. Villanova is on a two-match losing streak after losses to Santa Clara, 3-1, Aug. 30, and Notre Dame, 3-0, Aug. 31.

Next up, Binghamton will travel to Fairfield, Conn., over the weekend for the Fairfield Invitational. The Bearcats will first play against Central Connecticut State University on Friday, Sep. 6. The other two matches will be played on Saturday, Sep. 7, against Fairfield and Boston College.
