Women’s Basketball Travels to NJIT for AE Opener

Bearcats and Highlanders Tip Off Thursday at 6 p.m.

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (8-5, 0-0 AE) defeated SUNY Geneseo 75-42 Monday evening at the Events Center.  Sophomore guard Kaylee Krysztof scored a career-high 17 points while junior guard Kaia Goode notched a season-best 15 points. Sophomore forward Kendall Bennett led the Bearcats in rebounding, collecting eight during the contest. The game concluded the Bearcats' non-conference schedule for the season.

- Redshirt junior guard Jadyn Weltz tops the Bearcats in scoring and stands ninth in the America East with an average of 11.0 points per game. She also is tied for second in steals (2.2 spg.) and ranks fourth in assists (3.2 apg.). Goode is also tied for second in the America East in steals with 2.2 per contest. Sophomore guard Bella Pucci ranks No. 10 in rebounding with an average of 5.4.

-  As a team, Binghamton leads the conference with 9.31 steals per game. The Bearcats also rank second in rebounding (36.0 rpg.) and third in scoring (63.5 ppg.).

- NJIT (3-10, 0-0 AE) won its last game 89-60 at LIU on Monday. Alejandra Zuniga led NJIT with a team-best 20 points. She also dished out seven assists. In addition, four other Highlanders scored in double figures. Marissa Gingrich set a career high with 14 points, while Madilyn Dogs added 12 points. Olivia Kulyk and Aria Myers each contributed 10 points.

- Zuniga is the Highlanders' top scorer and ranks second in the America East with 18.2 points per game. She is also second in the conference in assists, averaging 3.8 per game. Trinity Williams, meanwhile, leads NJIT in both rebounding (8.2 rpg.) and blocks (1.8 bpg.).

- As a team, NJIT leads the America East with 68.7 points per game. The Highlanders are also top in the conference with 1.8 blocks per contest.

- Binghamton leads the series against NJIT 6-5. The Bearcats swept both games against the Highlanders last year, winning 63-58 in Newark on Feb. 1 as well as 68-48 at the Events Center on Feb. 17.
