VESTAL, N.Y. – Binghamton women's basketball announces the addition of three student-athletes that will join the squad for the 2026-27 season.
Sophie Elzina René is a 6'1 forward from Champlain College Saint-Lambert. The Brossard, Quebec native played three years at Champlain, where in her senior season she averaged 11.8 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game in 12 appearances as a forward. René was named as a RSEQ Second Team All-Star and an Academic All-Canadian.

Mary Grimes. "During the recruiting process I was able to see her get better every time I watched her play. She has a pure joy for the game and wants to be great."
Camille Gaudreau is a 5'7 point guard from Champlain College Saint-Lambert. The Gatineau, Quebec native averaged a team-leading 4.5 assists per game, along with 7.4 points and 1.8 steals a game. Gaudreau season highs of 15 points in a 65-53 win over Trios-Rivieres and seven assists against Vanier.
"I am really excited about Camille," coach Grimes stated. "I have watched for over two years and seen her growth as a point guard. She sees the floor really well and can get her teammates the ball in a position where they can score easily."
Emma Hákonardóttir joins the team after spending two years as a guard at UAlbany. In her two years, she appeared in 31 contests, shooting 37% from the field and from the 3-point line. The Thorlakshofn, Iceland native has played for the Iceland Junior National Team, where she garnered three Nordic Championships and two European Championships.
Hákonardóttir was on the UAlbany's regular season championship team, where the Great Danes went 26-7 and 14-2 in conference play, reaching the America East Championship where the team fell to No. 2 Vermont 62-55.
"Emma will bring experience to our team along with knowledge of the America East," coach Grimes said. "Her ability to shoot the ball from the three will help spread the floor and give us opportunities to score inside."
