VESTAL, N.Y. — The Binghamton women's basketball team visited Golisano Children's Hospital on Saturday morning, spending time with patients, families and staff while learning more about the care and support provided to children facing serious health challenges.
 
The Bearcats toured the facility and gained a deeper appreciation for the hospital's mission and the work being done on behalf of families across Central New York and beyond.
 
"What an amazing visit we had at Golisano Children's Hospital," Binghamton head coach Mary Grimes said. "We thank Cyd Rotella and her staff for the invitation and the tour. Today was impactful, as we were able to gain a better understanding of the care that is given across New York State."
 
One of the most memorable moments of the visit came when the team met a patient who is a longtime fan of the Binghamton women's basketball program. The patient, who has made a full recovery after being struck by a drunk driver, shared her story with the Bearcats and left a lasting impression on the group.
 
"It was really inspiring to meet someone who had overcome such a traumatic experience and was still so passionate about women's basketball," senior guard Bella Pucci said. "It reminded me that the game can have an impact beyond the court, and I was thankful for the opportunity to be there and learn from everyone we met."
 
Binghamton's visit to Golisano Children's Hospital reflected the program's commitment to service, community engagement and making a positive impact away from the basketball court.
