VESTAL, N.Y. – Three Binghamton men's lacrosse players have been selected to the inaugural America East Conference's Men's Lacrosse Preseason All-Conference Team, the league announced Tuesday.
Liam Ferris,
Lorenzo Ramos and
Connor Winters each made the team, which was voted on by the men's lacrosse coaches in the America East Conference. This is the first season that the America East has announced a preseason all-conference team.
These selections come after both Ferris and Ramos received America East Second Team All-Conference honors in 2024. Ferris, who completed his first season at Binghamton after transferring from Syracuse, finished second on the Bearcats in goals with 32, and tied for second in assists with 10. The midfielder also led the America East in shots per game at 9.85, making him the only player in the league to average at least nine shots per game. Ferris posted a hat trick in six games, including two where he scored four goals (Vermont on April 6, UMBC on April 13). Away from the goal, the Glenmont, N.Y., native collected 15 ground balls and caused two turnovers. Ferris would be named America East Offensive Player of the Week on April 15 and was chosen to the USILA Division I Team of the Week on April 17.
Ramos helped lead Binghamton's defense throughout the year. The defender tied for third on the team in caused turnovers with eight, while also collecting 15 ground balls. One of his most notable performances came against NJIT on March 23, when Ramos caused three turnovers and collected two ground balls in a 17-12 win for the Bearcats. The Farmingdale, N.Y., native has collected at least 12 ground balls and caused at least eight turnovers in each of his first three seasons in Vestal.
Winters has established himself as one of the top goalies in the America East over the last two seasons. After earning America East First Team All-Conference honors in 2023, the Webster, N.Y., native continued his strong collegiate career in 2024. Last season, Winters finished second in the conference in saves per game at 12.85, making at least 10 in 12 games. He placed second on the team with 38 ground balls while also causing eight turnovers, both career highs. On April 6, Winters made 18 saves and collected 11 ground balls to help the Bearcats earn an 11-10 victory in overtime at Vermont. For his performance, Winters was named the America East Defensive Player of the Week and selected to the USILA Division I Team of the Week.
Entering this season, Winters ranks second in program history in saves per game (13.37), third in wins (15), fifth in saves (361), fifth in save percentage (.525) and eighth in goals against average (12.34). He needs nine wins to tie the program record for the most goalie wins at 24 and 148 saves to tie the program record for saves at 509. Both records are held by current Binghamton Men's Lacrosse Head Coach
Kevin McKeown.
Additionally, the Bearcats were voted to finish fifth in the America East's preseason poll with 17 points. Defending conference champion UAlbany was picked first with 36 points, including six first place votes. Vermont is second with 30 points. Bryant is third with 26 points, picking up the only other first place vote along the way. UMBC is fourth with 21 points, NJIT is sixth with 10 points and UMass Lowell is seventh with seven points.
Binghamton finished the 2024 season with an overall record of 6-7 and a 4-3 mark in America East play. Along with Ferris and Ramos earning second team all-conference honors, both
Andrew Girolamo and
Jack Mellen also made the America East All-Rookie Team.
Binghamton begins its season at the Bearcats Sports Complex on Saturday, Feb. 8 at noon against Lafayette.
