Women’s Basketball Falls to UAlbany, 79-55

Bella Pucci leads the Bearcats with 15 points in the loss

ALBANY, N.Y. (binghamtonbearcats.com) - Binghamton Women's Basketball (11-8, 3-3) fell to UAlbany (16-3, 6-0), 79-55, Saturday afternoon inside the Broadview Center. The Great Danes improved to a perfect 6-0 in America East play while the Bearcats drop to .500 at 3-3. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 
UAlbany started off the first quarter up 4-2 before Bella Pucci drained a 3-pointer to give the Bearcats a one point advantage. Both teams swapped the lead three times until the Great Danes extended their edge 14-9 with two consecutive threes. UAlbany continued to add on before Meghan Casey converted on a fast-break to make it 16-11. Binghamton tacked on three more points to UA's six to finish the frame 22-14 in favor of the Great Danes. 

UAlbany began the second quarter on a 6-0 run before a successful offensive rebound from Kendall Bennett made it 28-16. The Bearcats mounted their own 7-0 run to cut the Great Dane advantage to seven, 28-21. Both opponents traded scores once again until UAlbany converted on three consecutive possessions to lead 36-23. Binghamton added two more points on made free throws from Bennett while UA notched two more scores to go up 41-25 heading into halftime. 

The Great Danes continued their momentum in the second half, recording the first five points before Kaia Goode sank a 3-pointer to make it 46-28 for UA. Pucci notched a driving layup for Binghamton off an assist from Yanniah Boyd in between two Great Dane threes to bring the score to 52-30. UAlbany posted six straight points until the Bearcats put up five consecutive to make it 58-38. The Great Danes added two made free throws to extend their edge to 60-38 at the end of the third quarter. 

Binghamton and UAlbany collected two made free throws apiece to start the last quarter. The Bearcats notched a 5-2 run before the Great Danes grabbed five more points to lead 68-45. Binghamton tacked on two more until UAlbany tallied six straight run to go up 74-47. The Bearcats finished the game's scoring with their biggest run of the game, scoring eight consecutive points to make it 74-55. The Great Danes tacked on five more points to end the afternoon with a 79-55 victory.  

GAME NOTES 
  • Bella Pucci registered a team-best 15 points with three, 3-pointers against the Great Danes, her sixth double-digit performance of the season. 
  • Leah Middleton, Kaia Goode and Kendall Bennett all recorded perfect percentages from the charity stripe. The performance was Middleton's sixth immaculate game from the free-throw line this year. 
  • Meghan Casey went 2-3 beyond the arc this afternoon, her second consecutive performance with at least two made 3-pointers. 
  • Abby Misier matched her season-high with six rebounds vs. UAlbany to bring her campaign total to 39.
