Women’s Basketball Loses 68-54 to Bryant

Goode nets 12 points, Pucci adds 11 points and eight rebounds

VESTAL, N.Y. –  Ali Brigham turned in a 29-point, nine-rebound, six-block, three-steal performance, powering Bryant (11-9, 4-3 AE) to a 68-54 win over Binghamton (11-9, 3-4 AE) in an America East women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon at Dr. Bai Lee Court at the Events Center.

Brigham, whose point was a career-high, shot 13-of-19 from the field and made all three of her free throw attempts. She had plenty of support from her team as Nia Scott grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds and Mia Mancini dished out eight assists to go along with 10 points.

Binghamton placed three players in double figures led by junior guard Kaia Goode with 12 points. Sophomore guard Bella Pucci finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals. In addition, fellow sophomore guard Yanniah chipped in 10 points and six rebounds.

Brigham's buzzer beater at the end of the first period broke an 18-18 and gave the Bulldogs a lead they would never relinquish. From there, Bryant went on a 13-3 run in the opening 5:39 in the second period to take a 33-21 advantage.

Binghamton drew to within single digits when Boyd's jumper trimmed the deficit to 49-41 with 8:02 left in regulation. Bryant, however, responded with a 11-2 run to go up 60-43 with 3:27 left to go.

The Bulldogs out rebounded the Bearcats 47-32 and held a 17-5 cushion in second-chance points. In addition, bench points favored the Bulldogs by a 39-11 margin.

"Bryant did a good job of feeding Brigham inside," head coach Mary Grimes. "We just got to figure out how to fight right from the start and not let our missed layups snowball into the whole 40 minutes. Having a little bit more fight on the boards is where we go from here."

Binghamton travels to Vermont on Thursday for a 6 p.m. game.
