Wrestling Splits Duals in Pennsylvania

Bearcats take down Franklin & Marshall 36-4 before falling to Drexel 23-10

PHILADELPHIA – The Binghamton wrestling team split its two duals in Pennsylvania Saturday, first defeating Franklin & Marshall 36-4 before falling to Drexel 23-10.

The Bearcats now sit with an overall dual record of 5-7 and a mark of 3-2 against EIWA opponents. With both Drexel and Franklin & Marshall also in the EIWA's Independence Division, Binghamton's record against teams in the group moves to 3-1. The Bearcats previously defeated both LIU and Hofstra earlier in the season. Both Morgan State and Sacred Heart remain on their schedule.

"We did a nice job against Franklin & Marshall," said Binghamton Wrestling Head Coach Kyle Borshoff. "We did not put enough effort into the Drexel dual. We were wrestling like it was practice, and they were wrestling like it was a street fight."

Highlights
•    To start the day, the Bearcats won nine out of their 10 bouts against the Diplomats, earning bonus points in five of those victories.
•    Cory Day picked up his team-leading ninth pin of the season against Brody Kline to close out the Bearcats' dual against Franklin & Marshall. He then followed that up by getting Binghamton on the board against Drexel with a 9-0 major decision against Dom Petracci.
•    Ivan Garcia won both of his matches Saturday to extend his winning streak to four. Garcia first got a 7-6 decision over Franklin & Marshall's Josh Hillard, before getting the takedown in overtime to beat Drexel's Dom Findora 4-1.
•    Carter Baer was the third and final wrestler for the Bearcats to go 2-0 on Saturday. His performance comes after he entered the national rankings for the first time this season at No. 33 in the InterMat poll. Baer took down F&M's Josh Palmucci 10-4 before defeating Drexel's Cody Walsh in sudden victory 2-1.
•    Micah Roes got his second pin in as many matches after recording a fall against Franklin & Marshall's Ejiro Montoya. Roes previously pinned Lehigh's Logan Wadle.
•    Roberto Padilla earned his first dual victory as a member of the Bearcats after the transfer took down Franklin & Marshall's Dominic Wheatley 8-1.
