Bearcats land five preseason all-conference selections

VESTAL, N.Y. – The America East has released its 2025 softball preseason poll and Binghamton is well represented. The Bearcats have been picked second in the preseason poll and tied for first with five preseason all-conference selections. The voting was done by the six America East head coaches - none of whom were allowed to vote for their own team or players.

Binghamton and UAlbany, which tied for the America East regular-season championship last year, went 1-2 in the preseason poll. The Great Danes were first with 23 points and three first-place votes. The Bearcats were right behind them with 22 points and two first-place votes. This marks Binghamton's highest preseason prediction since it was picked to finish first in 2018.

Bryant was third (14 points), followed by UMass Lowell and UMBC, which tied for fourth with 13 points. Maine was chosen sixth (five points).

Earning preseason all-conference honors for the Bearcats were graduate student outfielder Brianna Santos, graduate student utility player Lindsey Walter, junior pitcher Brianna Roberts, junior designated player Emma Lawson and sophomore catcher Elisa Allen. The Bearcats tied UMBC for first with five honorees on the preseason all-conference.

Santos has been named first-team all-conference two straight years. In 2024, she hit .323, scored 34 runs and was first in the America East with 17 doubles. Santos has also been named to the America East All-Academic Team twice in a row.

Walter has also been named first-team all-conference in both 2023 and 2024. Last season, she hit .328 and scored 32 runs. Walter capped her 2024 season with an appearance on the America East All-Tournament Team after batting a team-best .556 in the event.

After being named second-team all-conference in 2023, Roberts moved up to the first team last year. She won nine games in 2024 and ranked first in the America East with both a 2.17 ERA and four saves.

Lawson joined Walter on the America East All-Tournament Team after batting .500 with a home run and four RBI over the Bearcats' three games. For the season, she hit .374 with a .563 on-base percentage and drove in 18 runs.

Allen, meanwhile, was named to the America East All-Rookie Team last year. She homered seven times, drove in 23 runs and finished with a .545 slugging percentage and .914 OPS.

Binghamton opens up its 2025 campaign at the Stetson Tournament Feb. 7-9. It marks the earliest start date for the Bearcats during their 24-year NCAA Division I era.
