SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Binghamton volleyball team was defeated by Bryant in straight sets Sunday at the Chace Athletic Center.

The Bulldogs defeated the Bearcats 25-21, 25-16 and 25-18.
Merima Smajlovic,
Viktoria Dimitrova and
Maya Coblentz-Brown led the team with seven kills each.
Alexandra Koleva provided 24 assists.
Emily Cronkhite tallied 15 digs, the most between both sides in Sunday's contest.

Both teams battled in the first set, going back and forth with 19 lead changes.
Sophia Holland provided a kill that led to the Bearcats earning three straight points to take a 16-15 lead. Neither side was able to pull away from the other until the Bulldogs scored the final four points after being tied at 21 to close out the first set.

Binghamton looked to bounce back in the second set, but were not able to string together a run of points against the Bulldogs' defense, leading Bryant to take the second set.

The Bulldogs got off to a strong start in the third set by jumping out to a 9-3 lead, but the Bearcats rallied back and later scored four consecutive points to bring themselves within 18-15. A couple of kills from
Briana Binagi kept Binghamton close, but ultimately, Bryant finished the match with the final three points to secure the sweep over the Bearcats.

Binghamton returns home to host America East opponent New Hampshire on Friday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m., in the Events Center for their Green Day Friday/Go Green Game.
