Men’s Soccer Drops 2-0 Decision at UAlbany

Great Danes net a goal in each half

ALBANY, N.Y. – Alexander Clive Vokes and Caleb Vallance each scored a goal while Roko Branko Mrvelj tallied a pair of assists, lifting UAlbany (5-5-4, 3-1-1 AE) to a 2-0 victory over Binghamton (4-11-0, 0-5-0 AE) in an America East men's soccer match on Saturday evening at Bob Ford Field at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium.

Clive Vokes' goal came in the 30th minute when he fired a blast from 20 yards away. Mrvelj and Omar Galan were credited with the assists.

Vallence, meanwhile, scored in the 83rd minute from close range. The assists were credited to Mrvelj and Shawn Tanaka.

Prior to Vokes' goal, the Bearcats had controlled play for the opening 30 minutes. The shot count at the end of the match, however, favored the Great Danes 14-7.

"We started the match great and were in control until they scored that first goal," head coach Paul Marco said. "We have to find a way to score goals going forward. We were creating chances tonight but we weren't able to finish them."

Binghamton heads to UMBC this coming Friday for a 7 p.m. conference match.
