VESTAL, N.Y. – In what will be its final tournament before the start of dual season, the Binghamton wrestling team is traveling up the road to Ithaca, N.Y., to compete in the Big Red Invitational Sunday at the Ithaca College Athletics and Events Center. The tournament begins at 9 a.m.
19 Bearcat wrestlers are expected to take the mat in the round robin tournament, as everyone is guaranteed to compete in four matches. Along with Binghamton, wrestlers from No. 16 Cornell, Brown, Bloomsburg, Clarion, George Mason and Sacred Heart are also taking part in the event.
Binghamton last competed at Army West Point's Black Knight Open on Nov. 16. The Bearcats put up six placewinners in the tournament, with heavyweight
Charlie Tibbitts posting the highest finish at third place.
Ryan Hartung (fourth at 141 lbs.),
Jacob Hanlon (fifth at 133 lbs.),
Marco Albanese (sixth at 165 lbs.),
Caleb Sweet (sixth at 149 lbs.) and
Quinn Funk (sixth at 197 lbs.) also made it onto the podium.
