Women’s Basketball Defeated by UNH 65-38

Pucci scores 14 points, Bennett adds 10 points

DURHAM, N.H. – Eva Deschent turned in a 23-point, eight-rebound, three-assist, three-steal, one-block performance powering New Hampshire (10-17, 4-10 AE) to a 65-38 win over Binghamton (14-13, 6-8 AE) in an America East women's basketball game on Thursday evening at Lundholm Gymnasium. The game marked the first of back-to-back road contests for the Bearcats.

Deschent, who came into the game ranked second in the conference with 17.5 points per game, was 9-of-19 from the field. She was one of two Wildcat players to reach double figures in scoring - with Elizabeth Lavoie (12 points) being the other one.

For the Bearcats, sophomore guard Bella Pucci finished with a team-best 14 points followed by sophomore forward Kendall Bennett with 10 points. Pucci also finished with three steals and four rebounds while Bennett blocked a pair of shots.

The Wildcats ended the first half with a 9-0 run over a span of 3:30 to go up 35-28 at the break. Deschent and Clara Gomez each had four points during that stretch.

New Hampshire then blew the game open with an 18-0 run during a stretch of 8:41 to go up 63-35 with 6:02 left to go in regulation. Deschent led the way with 10 points during that blitz.

New Hampshire outshot the Bearcats 47 percent (24-of-51) to 33 percent (18-of-54). The Wildcats also out rebounded Binghamton 42-25 and finished with a 23-0 advantage in bench points.

Sophomore guard Yanniah Boyd added six points and four assists for the Bearcats.

Binghamton travels to Maine on Saturday for 1 p.m. game.
