Bearcats record five technical falls; Cory Day picks up his 11th pin of the season

BALTIMORE – For the first time in nearly four years, the Binghamton wrestling team prevented its opponent from scoring any team points as the Bearcats shut out Morgan State 46-0 Friday at Hurt Gymnasium.

The Bearcats won all 10 of the matches in their first-ever dual against the Bears, picking up five technical falls in the process. Additionally, Cory Day recorded his 11th fall of the season when he pinned Rasheen Duncan in the final bout of the night.

The last time Binghamton shut out its opponent in a dual was Nov. 7, 2021, when the Bearcats defeated New Jersey City University 53-0.

"The team did an awesome job today of pushing the pace and staying offensive," said Binghamton Wrestling Head Coach Kyle Borshoff. "Dillon Arrick and Jordan Brown did a great job filling in today when we needed them and getting outstanding wins."

Highlights
•    In his first appearance in a collegiate dual, Arrick attacked early and often against Jimmie Jones before winning the 133 lb. bout in a 21-4 technical fall.
•    Brown won his first dual match of the season by also recording a technical fall. His victory came against Cooper Lockhart in the 165 lb. match 17-2.
•    Carson Wagner, Fin Nadeau and Cayden Bevis picked up the other three technical falls on Friday for Binghamton. In total, the Bearcats got bonus points in seven out of the 10 matches.
•    Day entered the week ranking fourth in the country among Division I wrestlers in pins with 10. Now that his total for the season is up to 11, he needs one more pin to tie his career-high of 12 from 2023-24.
