Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Cornell

Muscolino nets three for second straight hat trick

ITHACA, N.Y. (binghamtonbearcats.com) - Binghamton Women's Lacrosse (3-6) fell to Cornell (6-2), 20-9, Tuesday evening at Schoellkopf Field. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 
Cornell recorded two goals before Olivia Muscolino got Binghamton on the board off an assist from Jess Robinson at 10:16 in the first quarter. The Big Red struck again to go up 3-1 until Emma Blloshmi found the back of the net to cut the home team's lead to one. Cornell scored twice before Musolino netted her second to end the frame, 5-3. 

Robinson opened up second quarter scoring for the Bearcats off an assist from Muscolino with 12:27 left in the frame. The Big Red notched two consecutive goals until Muscolino completed her hat trick to drop the advantage to two, 7-5. Cornell went on a 5-0 run to close out the second period and open up the third quarter leading 12-5. 

Marisa Tancredi and Carla Curth then went back-to-back to tally Binghamton's sole goals of the third stanza. The Big Red scored six straight goals to end the third and start the fourth quarter and increase their edge, 18-7. Tancredi recorded her second goal of the evening with 9:02 remaining in regulation. Cornell registered two more goals before Mia Forte posted Binghamton's last score to end the contest, 20-9. 

GAME NOTES 
  • Olivia Muscolino led the Bearcats with four points on three goals and one assist vs. Cornell, her second consecutive hat trick. Muscolino continues to add to her program-best 188 points and 135 goals. 
  • Marisa Tancredi posted three points on two goals and one assist against the Big Red. The three-point performance is the first for Tancredi since Binghamton's 19-7 win at Bryant, April 8, 2023, after she was sidelined with an injury before the 2024 season. 
  • Emma Blloshmi registered two points this afternoon, finding the back of the net once to extend her scoring streak to 11 games. 
  • Carla Curth and Jess Robinson chipped in two points apiece, both their fourth consecutive contests with two or more points. 
  • Gretel Cassell led Binghamton with a career-high four draw controls.
