Thirty-fifth annual event to be held at the Links of Hiawatha Landing

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton Bearcats Athletic Association (BBAA) will host its 35th Annual Matthews Auto Bearcats Golf Classic on Thursday, May 29 at The Links at Hiawatha Landing. The goal of the yearly event is to raise money for the Binghamton University Athletics General Scholarship Fund.

During the AM session, there will be a Captain and Crew Format. The PM session will be a Texas Scramble-2 best ball format.

In continuing as the title sponsor of the BBAA Golf Classic, Matthews Auto remains the longest-running title sponsor of a Binghamton Athletics Event. The dealership is also the title sponsor of the Binghamton golf team's annual fall collegiate invitational - also at The Links at Hiawatha Landing. Since Matthews Auto became the title sponsor of the BBAA Bearcats Golf Classic, the tournament has generated more than $450,000 in fund-raising revenue.

"For over 30 years, we have partnered with area businesses, dedicated golfers and The Links at Hiawatha Landing to host what has become one of the best, and most exciting amateur golf tournaments throughout Central New York," said Brian Jester, Associate Athletic Director, Binghamton University.  "The Matthews Auto Bearcats Golf Classic is not only a great way to showcase our division and engage supporters, but also a wonderful opportunity to raise revenue for our student-athletes and sport programs. With the incredible support from the Matthews Auto Group and Binghamton University Dining Services, our student-athletes are closer to their dreams, both in and out of their classrooms."

Founded in 1991, the BBAA is the philanthropic support group made up of alumni, parents, friends, community members, teams, coaches and students who have a deep interest in Binghamton University and its Athletics program. Binghamton University has long been proud of its student-athletes and their many accomplishments – whether they were competing as Colonials or as Bearcats.

The (BBAA) allows the Division of Athletics to provide scholarships to student-athletes, state-of-the-art training equipment, facility and equipment enhancements and funding for the Student-Athlete Success Center that supports our student-athletes' academic pursuits.
