Binghamton Notes
• The Bearcats won their America East opener by defeating UMass Lowell on the road 14-12 on Friday, March 14.
Gage Adams led Binghamton with three goals and three assists, both season highs, against the River Hawks.
• For his performance against UMass Lowell, Adams was named the Offensive Player of the Week by the America East on Monday before being selected by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) for its Division I Team of the Week. It is the first time this season that a Binghamton men's lacrosse player has received either honor. On March 10,
Matthew Rincon became the first Bearcat to earn a weekly honor this season after he was named the America East Defensive Player of the Week.
• With his three goals at UMass Lowell, Adams passed Phil Cavallo for the fifth-most career goals in Binghamton men's lacrosse history at 67. That performance was also Adams' 11th hat trick of his career with the Bearcats, putting him one behind Michael Antinozzi's 12 for the third-most in program history.
• Both
Liam Ferris and
Andrew Girolamo also scored three goals against UMass Lowell. The two players are tied for the team lead in hat tricks this season with three apiece.
• Binghamton had a strong showing at the faceoff X against the River Hawks, as both
CJ Mangio and
Flynn Wilson won more than half of their faceoff attempts for the second game in a row. Mangio led the Bearcats with nine wins out of 15 attempts, while Wilson had eight victories out of 15 attempts. This follows their stellar outing at Stony Brook on March 8, when Mangio went 8-12 from the X and Wilson went 7-12.
• The UMass Lowell game was the first time this season that Binghamton was perfect when it came to clearing the ball, as the Bearcats were successful on all 19 of their clear attempts.
NJIT Notes
• Saturday is NJIT's first America East game of the season after the Highlanders began the year 1-5 in non-conference play.
• JC Echezuria leads NJIT in scoring with seven goals and five assists for a total of 12 points. In the Highlanders' last game at Lafayette on March 11, the freshman recorded two of the team's four goals against the Leopards.
• NJIT is coming off its first winning season in program history after going 8-6 in 2024.
