Junior standout honored for second time this season

VESTAL, N.Y. – Junior pitcher Brianna Roberts has been named the Pitcher of the Week. It marked the second time this season - and as well as the fourth instance during her career - that she has earned conference's weekly accolade.

Roberts had a weekend for the ages, going 3-0 with a save and a microscopic 0.90 ERA in leading Binghamton to a 5-0 weekend at the Make-It-Happen Games in Madeira Beach. She pitched in 20 of the Bearcats' 36 innings and struck out 24 batters in the process.

Roberts pitched a two-hit shutout against Bethune Cookman on Saturday and went three innings to get the save against Bellarmine later that same day. Her most impressive performance, however, came when she struck out the side in the bottom of the eighth inning on Sunday to preserve the Bearcats' 7-5 win over an 11-3 Butler team.

For the season, Roberts is 6-1 with a save and a 1.04 ERA.

With her four weekly honors, Roberts has now tied Allison L'Amoreaux (2021-24) for the most career America East Pitcher of the Week awards by a Binghamton player.

Binghamton (10-5) heads to the James Madison Invitational this coming Friday-Sunday.
