Softball Hosts Cornell in Non-Conference DH

Bearcats and Big Red Square off Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (25-11) swept a three-game series at UMass Lowell this past weekend, winning by scores of 5-0, 14-0 (5 innings) and 3-1. Graduate student outfielder Brianna Santos hit a team-best .636 (7-for-11) during the series. Junior pitcher Brianna Roberts - the current America East Pitcher of the Week - tossed 9.0 scoreless innings against the River Hawks and recorded a win and a save.

- Santos - who has a career-high 14-game hitting streak - leads the America East in batting (.392), hits (48), runs (25) and is tied for first with three triples. Sophomore catcher Elisa Allen has belted a conference-best 14 home runs and ranks first with a .716 slugging percent as well as a 1.092 OPS. Junior first baseman Emma Lawson, meanwhile, ranks first in the America East with 35 RBI.

- With a 13-2 record, Roberts leads the conference in victories, ranks first with a 2.19 ERA and is second with 103 strikeouts. Fellow junior pitcher Olivia Kennedy is third with a 3.04 ERA as well as fifth with both seven victories and 93 strikeouts.

- As a team, the Bearcats rank first in the America East with a .295 batting average as well as a 2.86 ERA. In addition, Binghamton is second with a .963 fielding percentage.

- In the national statistics, Binghamton ranks No. 36 with 0.44 double plays per game, No. 43 in ERA as well as No. 27 with a 2.46 strikeouts-to-walks ratio. Kennedy is No. 40 with an 8.16 strikeouts to walk ratio while Santos is the third toughest batter to strikeout.

- Heading into the doubleheader against Cornell, Binghamton has hit 48 home runs and ranks No. 24 in the nation with 1.33 home runs per game. The school record of 50 home runs was set in 2011 and tied last year.

- In the current RPI, Binghamton is ranked No. 96 of out 309 NCAA Division I softball programs.

- Cornell (15-15) took two out of three games against visiting Penn in an Ivy League series this past weekend. Ella Harrod drove in a team-best four runs during the series.

- As a team, the Big Red rank second in the Ivy League with a .312 batting average. Harrod ranks fifth in the conference with a .382 batting average while Lauren Holt is second with nine home runs and is tied for fifth with 28 RBI.

- The all-time series between Binghamton and Cornell is tied at 14-14. Most recently, the Bearcats swept a pair of games at the 2024 Penn State Invitational (March 16-17), winning by scores of 9-1 (5 innings) and 6-0. Santos and Allen each drove in a pair of runs in the second game.
