Softball Concludes Regular Season at UAlbany

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (31-12, 14-2 AE) swept Colgate 6-1 and 21-2 in  a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday. The Bearcats belted 10 home runs - including a program-record seven of them in the second game. Sophomore catcher Elisa Allen finished the day with four home runs and 12 RBI.

- The Bearcats, who have won their past five games, are ranked No. 24 in the D1softball.com Mid-Major Poll for the second straight week. Binghamton has made three appearances in the poll this year, having also been ranked No. 25 back on March 5.

- Binghamton has recorded back-to-back 30+ win seasons for the first time in program history. The Bearcats have reached the 30-win mark five times all time.

- Binghamton has already clinched the America East regular-season title. The Bearcats, who host the conference tournament May 7-10, will be the No. 1 seed for the first time since 2017.

- Allen leads the America East in home runs (22), RBI (55), slugging percentage (.887) and OPS (1.292). In addition to breaking the Binghamton program records, Allen's single-season home run total ranks second in conference history while her RBI mark is fourth.

- Junior first baseman Emma Lawson leads the America East with a .397 batting average and 13 doubles. She is also second with both 42 RBI and a .444 OPS and is third with a .679 slugging percentage. Lawson has homered eight times so far this year. 

- Graduate student outfielder Brianna Santos is third in the conference in batting (.369), first with 55 hits and third with 32 runs. Fellow graduate student outfielder Lindsey Walter, meanwhile, is tops with 35 runs and ranks third with 16 stolen bases.

- On the mound, junior pitcher Brianna Roberts is 17-2 with a 1.08 ERA. She leads the conference in victories, ERA and strikeouts (132). Fellow junior pitcher Olivia Kennedy is fifth with both nine wins and 108 strikeouts.

- As a team, Binghamton leads the America East in batting (.310), pitching (2.66 ERA) and fielding (.964).

- UAlbany (19-22, 9-6 AE) dropped a 7-3, 1-0 doubleheader at Bryant last Saturday. The second game was decided in the bottom of the seventh inning.

- Kate Powers leads the Great Danes and ranks second in the America East with a 2.41 ERA. She is also third with 11 wins and seventh with 75 strikeouts. At the plate, Caitlyn Frederick ranks sixth in the America East with a .347 batting average. 

- As a team, UAlbany is ranked second in the America East in both pitching (3.54) and fielding percentage (.963). The Great Danes are also third in batting (.260).

- Since both teams joined the America East back in 2002, UAlbany leads the all-time series 52-21. Earlier in the season, however, the Bearcats swept a 12-4, 14-2 home doubleheader on March 22. Lawson and sophomore second baseman Maddy Dodig each homered twice during the day.
